Definition

Quality of Governance (QoG) The Quality of Governance Index is one of the most important ways to measure how well and honestly a country or region's government works. These indices give a full picture of the quality of government by looking at things like the rule of law, how well the government works, political security, the lack of corruption, citizen participation, the quality of regulations, and openness. Such measures are used by groups like the World Bank's Worldwide Governance Indicators to look at and compare how well different countries are doing. This helps lawmakers and international groups find places to improve and encourage growth. These indices are very important for supporting accountable, open, and effective governance practices around the world because they give us a more complete picture of how governance works.
